Super Teen Magazine
SuperTeen: What's your full name?
Michael: Michael Carmen Pitt.
How Old are you?
Michael: 18 and a 1/2
SuperTeen: Where are you from?
Michael: I'm from New Jersey originally. I moved to New York when I was 16. Now I live in Brooklyn.
SuperTeen: How did started in acting?
Michael: I always into it. I did a play when I was ten, and I knew it was what I wanted to do.
SuperTeen: What was your first role?
Michael: My very first role ever getting paid, I think, I was... I didn't have a name. I was, like, kid #1 that walked by a door in All My Children. Really good, some of my greatest work! (laughs)
SuperTeen: So how did you get the role on Dawson's Creek?
Michael: I was doing a play off-Broadway called The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek at the New York Theatre Workshop. I was doing that, and I think the casting director of Dawson's Creek had seen it. They had this part... I went in and auditioned, and they put it on tape. they sent it out there, and then flew me out. Then I did the audition and they told me I got it.
SuperTeen: Had you watched Dawson's Creek before?
Michael: I hadn't, no. but I watch it now! (laughs)
SuperTeen: How would you describe your character, Henry Parker?
Michael: Well, he falls a lot. He is very clumsy. He's like the sweet, shy, sincere kid next door. and I think he's likeable.
SuperTeen: Do you think you are like him at all?
Michael: Absolutely not! (laughs) I mean, I'm likeable, I just don't think I'm like him, which is more fun, playing someone else.
SuperTeen: I heard Josh Jackson always moons people. Has he mooned you yet?
Michael: Moons people?! I don't know about that, but he has my CD. I lent him my Operation Ivy CD and I haven't gotten it back yet. Print that so he'll give it back to me!You know...I couldn't say on mooning. He hasn't mooned me yet. Josh is really cool, though. He is really, really cool. and he gave me shoes. I lost my shoes in the hurricane, and he gave me new shoes.
SuperTeen: How was the hurricane? Was it scary?
Michael: We threw a party. We threw a hurricane party. CNN has got more show business going on than Dawson's Creek, you know. I mean, we were supposedly in the core of it all, and everyone was really worried. But we threw a party.
SuperTeen: So did they shut down production? Did everybody leave?
Michael: Yeah. Actually, they flew everyone out. And me and Brittany [Daniels], we missed our flight. and Josh wasn't going anywhere, just cause he's crazy. So we threw a party at Josh's house, just the three of us. We were like the only ones stuck in Wilmington!
SuperTeen: So what's Katie Holmes like?
Michael: Katie's cool. She makes good waffles. She made me really, really good waffles. She's really cool.
SuperTeen: Have you been getting recognized?
Michael: Sometimes, I've signed a couple autographs-but it's really funny, cause I'm like a horrible speller. I was standing [in New York City], and this girl came up and she asked me if I was on Dawson's Creek. I was like, "Yeah." She asked me for an autograph. And I had to ask her how to spell Dawson's! I didn't know what to write, it was really embarrassing. But when little kids recognize you, I get kick out of that. They're so excited, and they think you're the character. Actually, once I was walking down Madison Avenue with Brittany when she was in New York, and everyone was recognizing her. All these kid were like," It's the girl from Dawson's Creek!" and I'm sitting there-waiting. and they're like, "You are dating Leonardo DiCaprio?!" I'm Like, "Guys, come on. Look at me. Who am I?" they're like, "Oh, you are the football player..."
SuperTeen: Are you ready for all the craziness that will be coming your way? I mean, the four Dawson's Creek originals were unknowns before the show, and now they are huge stars. Are you ready for that?
Michael: No. (laughs) I'm actually... I'm enjoying the time I have right now...
